MEC MOILOA OFFERS SUPPORT TO SHACK FIRE VICTIMS AT SETLAGOLE

MEC for Social Development, Boitumelo Moiloa has assured the family of Wageng and
Sealogo psycho-social support following the death of their grandmother Allie Sealogo, 86 in
a shack fire in Setlagole village in Ratlou local municipality.

The deceased Sealogo, from Vriesgewagte was visiting her daughter at Setlagole who took
care of her at the time of her untimely death. Granny Sealogo succumbed to the raging fire
late on Monday afternoon. Moiloa, while offering condolences and commiserations to the
family, said it was a sad day to see a frail and older person losing her life like that.

“Normally we warn people on the dangers of open fire but this time around it appears the
cause was not by negligent. We will await the investigations from the relevant authorities on
the cause of the suspected explosion. Our officials will continue to offer the psychological
support to the young children who have been traumatised by this experience,” said Moiloa.

She also expressed gratitude to Red Cross organisation that has provided more than 18
blankets to the family. The blankets will augment the food parcels that the department
provided to the family who rely on social grants. Government Moiloa said, will continue to
assess all the needs of the family, including shelter and provide swift intervention to the
family.
